Expressing love

Expressing love

I run my hands through her hair
Then stroke her head gently
telling silently
how much I care

I place her hand in my palm
Then place it on my heart
singing softly
my life’s psalm

I lay her cheeks next to mine
Then kiss the tip of her nose
expressing quietly
my love divine

I pull her slowly with my arms
Then bring her closer to me
disclosing lightly
my hidden charms

I whisper faintly in her ears
Then hum a sweet melody
dismissing firmly
all her fears

I gaze deeply into her eyes
Then drown her in mine
revealing slowly
my soul’s surprise

I take her easily into space
Then show her eternity
exposing finally
God’s real face

Allow me

Allow me

Allow me
to hold your hand and
to take you to paradise,
a place so breathtaking, it brings out our sighs

Allow me
to pledge my core and
to assure you of my being
to help you discern your true inner feeling

Allow me
to hold your heart and
to heal it with gentle touch
to protect it from all hurt, nurture it so much

Allow me
to promise you joy and
to show you true bliss
to adorn you so much, you feel like a princess

Allow me
to embrace your soul and
to enrich it with my love
to float together as one, and meet the force above

Allow me
to offer you my life and
to take you to such highs
to inspire you enough that you too do likewise

Being authentic to self

Being authentic to self

“All the knowledge I possess everyone else can acquire, but my heart is all my own.”
~Johann von Goethe, The Sorrows of Young Werther, 1774

Humility is natural when we’re true to ourselves. Then there is no desire for one-upmanship. This prayer stands for humility and self-awareness, which in turns stems from being true to ourselves. Being true to ourselves means acknowledging, and acting upon, our deepest desires, our most vivid and persistent dreams, our passion and our purpose. Knowing the self is the greatest knowledge…all else is superficial and irrelevant.

Express Yourself

Express Yourself

“If you were going to die soon and had only one phone call you could make, who would you call and what would you say? And why are you waiting?”
~Stephen Levine

This is a beautiful prayer and the best example of its potency was seen during the 9/11 terror strikes. In the post-strikes coverage, one thing that touched us all was how everyone on board the four aircraft, as well as those trapped in the two WTC towers, knew they were about to die…and how most of them were dying to reach out to their loved ones. Some of them even managed to speak to their spouses, children, parents. All of them said almost the same things, “I think I am going to die and I just wanted to let you know I love you”. Here’s a related story.

Traders of Fear

Traders of Fear

As a novice in poetry, I love experimenting. So I decided to write a poem on World Environment Day (being observed today).

The cars on roads are swarming
The deforestation too is alarming
The rising CO2 levels are harming
Is this leading to global warming?

The amount of fuel being burned
Along with trees being upturned
Oh! environmentalists are concerned
So should consumption be governed?

Politicians are churning money
Making hay while it is all sunny
Though scientists don’t find it funny
Then, is all the clamour phoney?

Some questions in mind arise
Why exactly do temperatures rise?
Are these alarms false outcries
of profiteers from Fear Enterprise?

Isn’t our planet older than mankind?
Hasn’t it survived many a tough grind?
Though species have grown and declined,
doesn’t it continue to be streamlined?

Global warming — truth or politicised science?

Global warming — truth or politicised science?

It is World Environment Day [WED] on June 05, 2007. This year’s WED theme is “Melting Ice – A hot topic?”

Why is ice melting? Because of global warming. And what is global warming? Simply put, it means hotting up of our beloved planet.

Some say it is because of the rising temperatures on Earth. The cause: deforestation and burning of fossil fuels, leading to a drastic increase in CO2 levels, which in turn is trapping heat in the Earth’s atmosphere.

Some others say global warming is politicised science at its worst—that global warming is a myth. I am inclined to agree with this set of people, in spite of overwhelming sentiment in favour of the former.

But whatever the truth, alarmists have reason to rejoice! Because this year they have succeeded in spreading the paranoia to the UNEP. There is little doubt that such a theme as “Melting Ice – A hot topic?” will propagate terror among the already worried peoples of the world. But doomsayers, who have been predicting that global warming is going to destroy planet Earth, should perhaps do some homework.

Here are some interesting links that will explain why I choose to be on the “politically incorrect” side of the debate:

Choosing Now

Choosing Now

The past is a trail left behind
The future cannot be defined
Only the present is aligned
with my heart, soul and mind

Life is not a throw of dice
For I have the gift of choice
I can either be sad or rejoice
Be silent or air my voice

I pray for having the wisdom
The vision and the freedom
To seek God’s rich kingdom
Over plain Earthly stardom

I don’t belong to this world
That has from eons whirled
Keeping me coiled and curled
Now it’s time I unfurled

Infinity is my destination
My journey’s ultimate station
All else is a false notion
Only my ego’s perception

So I’ll give up my past, I vow
And future’s course I’ll allow
While I choose the eternal now
In the company of the Tao

Back to the future

Back to the future

One day I dreamt
and saw us old and grey
Having spent our whole life
being content night and day

I saw our years of youth
spent in hope and desire
With bricks of our love
we slowly built our empire

You were as graceful then
as you are today
And I loved you then too
in a very special way

Small, loving gestures
were the source of our joy
Our faith in each other
no power could destroy

The years had gone by
marked by joy and bliss
And life had been beautiful
like a deep, unending kiss

As I awoke from the dream
I felt a bit nostalgic
‘Cos I dreamt of the future
But it felt like past magic!

The First Shower

The First Shower

A million water droplets start falling all around
At once accompanied by a thundering sound

An exotic, musky fragrance rises from the soil
Bringing back memories of sadness and turmoil

Like a fleeting revelation a bolt of lightning strikes
Releasing my emotions, and hurting like spikes

Then walking in the rain I find it easy to deceive
Rain camouflages tears, and it’s so easy to believe

Then, just as clouds had gathered without warning
They disappear, to let the sun shine in the morning

The first shower, though brief, leaves its impression
It is a wonder that revives many a deceased vision
